The Holy Grail of Beauty and Aging
Posted on October 6th, 2009 No commentsThe Holy Grail of Beauty and Aging is shaping up to be a bit of a surprise. It’s called Epigenetics. What’s epigenetics? Think of your DNA (genes) as the hardware of the body and how it functions…epigenetics is the operating prgram that allows the DNA, or genes to be expressed (how well the genes work).
There’s more…..early research in epigenetics seems to point to the fact that you pass epiegentic information to your children and grandchildren along with your DNA. Further, it seems that your living circumstances (stress, health..etc) has an effect on this epigenetic trans-generational transfer.
This, if finally proven correct means that you are not only the gatekeeper of your own body but the way that you live may effect several generations of your offspring and how they live and contract diseases. Seems we have a huge burden of responsibility to live as healthy as possible not only for ourselves but for our children and grandchildren. This includes reducing stress in our lives.
How does this effect beauty? If you are content with the way you look, you naturally feel better. You can’t separate how you look from how your feel and vice versa. Whether that means you eat sensibly, get regular exercise, take nutritional supplements, have plastic and cosmetic surgery treatments and surgery, seek stress reduction through meditation or improve the quality of your personal and work relationships….you will be improving your quality of life which epigenetics says is important not only for an improved quality of life for you…but for your children and grandchildren.
